You serve great food, your regulars love you, but when someone nearby searches "restaurants near me", you're nowhere on the map. Frustrating, and very common. The reason is usually not your food. It's your Google Business Profile.
How Google decides who shows up
Google says local results are based mainly on three things: relevance (how well your profile matches the search), distance (how far you are from the person searching) and prominence (how well known and well reviewed you are). You can't move your restaurant, but you can improve the other two.
The gaps we see most often
- 1The wrong or vague category.
If your main category is "Restaurant" but you're really a South Indian café or a bakery, say so. Specific categories match specific searches. - 2Missing or wrong details.
Hours that don't show late-night service, no menu link, or a map pin on the wrong lane. - 3Old photos and few reviews.
A listing with three dark photos from years ago looks closed, even when you're full every night. - 4Different details in different places.
Your name, address and phone should be exactly the same on Google, Zomato, Swiggy, Instagram and your website.
Fix it this week
- Choose the most specific main category, and add secondary ones you truly offer.
- Set regular and holiday hours, and add your menu and ordering links.
- Upload 10 or more bright, real photos: your food, the dining area, the entrance, and your team.
- Ask happy diners for a review, and reply to every review, good or bad.
- Post a short update each week, such as a new dish, an offer or festival timings.
Keep it working
Google rewards profiles that stay active and accurate. Ten minutes a week keeps you there: new photos, replies to reviews and updated hours. If you'd rather not think about it, that's exactly what our Growth package does.
